Are turn ups in jeans in fashion?

Are turn ups back?  They frequently make small comebacks since their introductions in the 80s with Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

I’ll see how long they last…but judging by the 40-somethings wearing them, I’m guessing it’s woman’s magazines who have said ‘ this is the in style for summer 2008′.

 

Hong Kong – the mecca for designer fashions?

Hong Kong has more designer clothes shops per sq metre than any city in the world.

From Versace to Rolex, enormous sparkling new malls sprawl with the top fashion houses, some of which I admittedly did not know existed.  It seems that the tax free status of Hong Kong is enough to lure all the big labels in.  French fashion houses are in force, and everywhere you go within the malls you’ll find the finest of everything.

It might be too far for a typical girls shopping trip, but try the Penisula or Intercontinental to stay – do some shopping – then fly on to Australia.

London Ink….the pinnacle of fashion?

For once I saw a programme that wasn’t contrive but had a definite slant on fashion that wasn’t main stream or too oddball….London Ink.

The tatoo artists and clients seem to have a slightly underground meets mainstream outlook on fashion.  Piercings and tatoos seem to go hand in hand to produce some of the coolest fashion statements without serious expense of Dolce Gabana or Armani.

It’s not what you wear, but how you combine it with your existing physique, hair and skin tone.

Miami Fashion week – Jessica Simpson models bikinis

Looks like Jessica Simpson has lost some weight and will be modeling bikinis at Miami Fashion week

After divorcing Nick Le-Shay (spelling lol!), she ran off with one of the cameramen and got porky eating.

Now I guess she’s back to show off her bod.

Miami is the place to be this week……

New Look clothing store up for sale

…a snip at £1.8Bn but no one bid.

Apax and Primera who own the company are set to make £1.3bn if it sells for the asking price.

However, groups who are interested suggest that £1.5bn is the right price.

Fashion in Hong Kong

 

Hong Kong being tax free with no import duties is very popular with designer labels.

Brands such as Prada and Gucci are evident in the malls dedicated to designer labels….but also Tiffany’s and lesser known French designers.

Although the HK residents don’t mostly buy these clothes, I can only assume that the affluent Chinese/HKs and Western visitors involved in banking are the buyers here.

An unusual destination for designer clothes, HK is the definitely the best place to buy and save money on designer labels.
